Air America Station to Stay in Madison

I may have spoken too soon about Air America’s untimely death. It still has a pulse within the People's Republic of Madison; a faint one but it is exists. It just goes to show you if liberals bitch enough they get their way.

Al Qaeda Sends a Message to Democrats

Somehow I imagine this is the not the sort of political endorsement the Democrats had in mind as they prep for the 2008 presidential campaign.

Al Franken Inching Closer to Senate Run

Dear God help us all.

Then again if a self-proclaimed vampire can run for the governor of the state of Minnesota, why not a certified circus clown? I mean he won't have a job pretty soon but I wonder if campaign advertisers will take peanuts as payment. If not then he’s in real trouble as far as funds are concerned. Oh I’m sure he’ll find some way to loan the money because in his past line of work he’s had so much experience with that.

Democrats Shopped Foley Story to Papers

No, really? I would never imagine the Democratic Party stooping so low, never in a million years.

Sarcasm aside, I didn’t think the Democrats were just sitting on their hands as they waited two years for ABC News to break the story. I am quite certain you won’t be seeing either the media or the public clamoring for the heads of Democratic representatives who were aware of the Foley e-mails before the story officially broke the way Dennis Hassert was hassled.

This is Finals Week, right?

Sure, we lost and this has nothing to do with politics whatsoever (outside of the fact that Madison is one of the last remaining communist states in the world today besides Cuba and North Korea) but you have to love the dedication of our fans. That and I’m in this video. I’m the guy in the background with the blue coat, first with the hood over my head then I lower when I notice their filming.

Yes, I’m a geek.

Hot and Cold Media Spin

I love it!

Outgoing Chairman of Environment & Public Works Committee, Senator James Inhofe, has published a booklet entitled A Skeptic's Guide to Debunking Global Warming Alarmism which is available for free on the committee’s website.

The timing for this could not have been more perfect as the entire nation has plunged into a deep chill.

Mayans Stuck on Stupid

Here’s a brilliant example of people being stupid just for the sake of being stupid. People who like to refer themselves as ‘indigenous activists’ in Guatemala have labeled Mel Gibson’s latest historical drama, Apocalypto, set against the backdrop of the declining years of the Mayan empire before the arrival of Spanish conquerors, as racist. Apocalypto has yet to be released in Guatemalan theatres (their judging the film based on the trailers which reveal nothing in particular about the specific plot of the movie) but leaders in the country say that images in the trailer of what appears to be “scary-looking Mayans with bone piercings and scarred faces hurling spears and sacrificing humans promote stereotypes about their culture”.

Here’s the thing though: that is what archeologists believe took place near the end of the Mayan civilization, albeit far from being as blood-thirsty as the Aztecs were.

Peace with Honor: Part Deux?

This morning the Iraq Study Group released their report.

You can either purchase the report in book-form (similar to the 9/11 Commission Report) here:

Or you can view the whole report online for free here.

The Counterterrorism blog has put together an effective list of link sources for those interested in the Iraq Study Group as well as some blogger comments on the release of the report.

Pardon me while I laugh at the very thought of ‘constructively discussing’ the stabilization of Iraq with Iran and Syria, partners in the Axis of Evil. Yeah, that worked out so well with Chamberlain and Hitler with the prospect of World War II looming over Europe. Iran and Syria are what is fueling the insurgency in Iraq to begin with. And we’re suppose to work with these monsters?

In their press conference this morning the study group (led by the nine grumpy old men and the wicked witch of the west, Sandra Day O’Connor - clever, aren't I?) believed that even though talks with Iran would be useless, we should do so anyway to show to the world (for the one-hundredth time I suppose) that Iran has blatantly refused to cooperate with the United States in stabilizing Iraq. If we know for a fact that Iran won’t cooperate then why bother with this charade in the first place? Isn’t that basically talking just for the sake of talking? This somehow feels familiar … Oh, right, this is exactly what the United Nations and the hippie liberals wanted to do when Saddam Hussein refused to cooperate with weapons inspectors for the one-hundredth time since the end of the Gulf War. Notice how they never discuss what our actions will be toward Iran if they refuse to cooperate. I am sure members of the study group will write them an angry letter telling them how angry they are. I am sure President Tom will file that away somewhere.

The study group made it clear this morning that they did not intend to reduce policy in Iraq to ninety-second sound-bites like ‘cut-and-run’ or ‘stay-the-course’ on the news. Instead they extended the discussion of ‘responsibly’ moving combat forces out of Iraq (I don’t know but that sounds like ‘cut-and-run’ to me) to one-hundred and sixty pages of pure drivel.

Summary: In one year’s time the study group suggests that we abandon Iraq regardless of whether the Iraqi government (they only mention the interim government, apparently the Iraqi military isn’t worth shit to them) can stand on its own or not. On top of that they want us to give concessions to Iran, Syria, and especially Palestine (even though they have nothing to do with Iraq whatsoever), our adversaries. Ronald Reagan (God bless his soul) must be rolling in his grave.

Sound like ‘peace with honor’ over all again, doesn’t it? It’s true then. We haven’t learned a damn thing from the Vietnam War.

Shallow Gal

For those who need reminding here are Oscar-winner (who voted for Academy Award-winning performance – Americans, right) Gwyneth Paltrow’s anti-American sentiment which set off a firestorm of controversy recently:

“Brits are far more intelligent and civilised than Americans”
In the aftermath of the controversy, Gwyneth and her publicist are pulling a Dixie Chick and quickly backpedaling insisting that the movie starlet (I dare you to name one movie in the past five years that she’s starred in that anyone outside of a cult status has cared about) was misquoted (I don’t know but what she said seemed pretty clear and precise to me) and that in fact she loves America (she only lives in England because her husband’s English – score one for neo-feminism).

This however is not the first time Gwyneth has been caught making anti-American statements. In January 2006 she was quoted as saying:

“I love the English way, which is not as capitalistic as it is in America. People don't talk about work and money; they talk about interesting things at dinner parties. I like living here because I don't tap into the bad side of American psychology, which is 'I'm not achieving enough, I'm not making enough, I'm not at the top of the pile.' It's just kind of like, I am”
Yes, down the evil capitalist system which allowed you to live the lavish (and possibly haze-induced) lifestyle you grew up with and brought the fame and celebrity you take for granted today.

None of what she has said in the past week or so is anything new. It’s just being rehashed.

NYC Council Oversteps Bounds on Trans Fat Ban

Can you believe this? I am against the so-called health wars for logistical reasons (Ronald McDonald and Joe Camel are not holding a gun to your head and saying, “Eat this Big Mac, fat ass!” or “Smoke this, loser!”) but there is a bigger issue behind this story. What’s truly disturbing about New York City’s ban on artificial trans fats is that the decision was handed down by the city council. Whether or not you believe the federal government should make choices for people as to what they eat is a matter of personal opinion. However I think everyone can agree that it is not, nor should it ever be, the role of the city/local government to make food decisions for people. The New York City council has seriously overstepped its bounds on this one.

Chalk up another one for the list of reasons why I hate Michael Bloomberg. Conservative/Republican my ass!

UPDATE

I apologize for being away so long but commitments for school, the men’s basketball team (the Wisconsin game is quickly coming upon us), and my personal life (there have been issues I have had to resolve) have prevented me in the past week or so from posting on this site. I hope to have a full update including the Iraqi Study Group and the Gwyenth Paltrow anti-American statements today or tomorrow at the latest.

Thank you for your patience!
