Roberts Confirmation to Supreme Court Likely

According to the Washington Post, the fight from Congressional Democrats to halt the confirmation of President Bush’s Supreme Court nominee John Roberts may be limited, if not non-existent, now that it has been concluded that he is likely to receive the seventy votes that would be needed to overrule the event of a filibuster. Whether he will turn out to be another David Souter or not has yet to be determined but the fact that Bush was able to choose a candidate that has met minimal resistance on the political battlefield is a good first step.
