Could This End the Warrior Debate Entirely?

Source: Badger Blog Alliance

I do not know why I did not notice this story earlier but I tip my hat off to the Badger Blog Alliance for posting this on their weblog this past Monday. The entire debate which has raged for months over the potential reinstatement of the Warrior nickname to the athletic teams of Marquette University, one that will ongoing even after a decision in reached on the new nickname for our entry into the Big East Conference on July 1st, made be dead in water entirely should the seventeen member Executive Committee of the NCAA meet and vote in favor of a proposal which would ban the use of Indian imagery and nicknames for college campuses. There is however a ray of hope in all of this. Such a review of the use of Indian imagery and nicknames was proposed by minority interests in 2002 but was eventually shot down. Furthermore, high-profile academic universities such as Florida State and Utah will be putting tremendous pressure on the committee to shoot the proposal down quickly and effectively. I shall keep you up-to-date on this issue as news develops on it.
