Katherine Harris to Run for Senate in 2006

The Washington Post writes ...

Harris, who is serving her second term in Congress, is considered a top fundraiser and is a popular figure among Republicans. But she is also despised by some Democrats for her role in overseeing the recount that ultimately gave Florida and the White House to George W. Bush over Al Gore. And her entry into the race could galvanize Democratic voters and contributors.

Uh-huh, the Democrats made the exact same threat when Harris ran for the House of Representatives seat for the state of Florida and when Governor Jeb Bush ran for re-election but looked how those turned out. And given that sixty percent of Florida voters voted in favor of re-electing George W. Bush as President of the United States in the last presidential election and the Democrats couldn’t even muster up the kind of support for Kerry that they had with Gore, what makes them think they will be able to turn things automatically around in the state by 2006? She has the Office of Homeland Security's support and we wish her good luck on her Senate campaign.
